The skin of a baby

The skin of a baby is soft and delicate. Due to this, many babies are prone to skin irritations and, perhaps, to have rashes or any other skin condition in their first months. Some of these conditions are quite usual and it only causes discomfort to the baby. Other conditions need medical aid. Don’t be afraid to ask your healthcare provider when you have doubts about how to treat your baby’s skin.

We can do a lot of things at home to take care of the baby’s delicate skin:

-Use a gentle detergent to wash everything that touches your baby skin, not only baby’s clothes but also towels, sheets, blankets or even your own clothes.

-When buying products for your baby’s skin, look for that without dyes or fragrances. If you are in doubt, buy these products with pharmaceutical or medical advice.

-To maintain your baby’s skin hydrated and clean, bath time must be short (3 to 5 minutes) in water that has the same temperature of the skin. Avoid that the baby sits long periods of time in the soapy water. Don’t dry your baby rubbing with the towel, it is better to pat.

-At last, remember, babies, don’t need talcum powder. It is better to use baby lotions or creams designed for them. Besides, they can inhale the particles of the powder, which can cause lung problems.
