Constipation is one of the worries of parents about their babies.
The baby is constipated if his bowel movements are less frequent than usual and this reduction of frequency lasted for more than 2 or 3 days. If the stools are hard, dry, and difficult to pass, frequency doesn’t matter, constipation is here.
Major causes of baby constipation are changes in feeding patterns (change of infant formula brand, the introduction of solid food…), dehydration or a medical condition.
There are some things you can try to treat your baby constipation:
-Help the baby to do more exercise. If the baby crawls or walks, try to play with him to encourage him to move more.
If the baby doesn’t move on his own, move his legs as he was riding a bike.
-Massage your baby’s belly.
-If you think that the problem can be caused by the introduction of solid food, help him with fruits like prunes or pears, and avoid bananas, rice, and carrots (they cause constipation).
If after a few days your baby is not better, do not hesitate in ask your doctor.
