The First Tooth Is A Big Event In Your Baby’s Life

The first tooth is a big event in your baby’s life, but its apparition can be uncomfortable, and even painful.

Most babies begin to teethe between 4 and 7 months old, but as in many other things, each baby is different. Some of them can start early or much later.

If you notice that your baby has swollen and tender gums, he is fussiness and crying, wants to chew hard things and have lots of drool, it is possible that teething is starting.

Other signs are slightly raised temperature and changes in eating or sleeping routines. Teething doesn’t make babies sick, so if your baby has diarrhoea, high fever, rashes or any other symptoms, call your doctor.

There are some things that usually helps to soothe babies when they are teething:

-Cold things often help: you can try a cold pacifier, spoon, clean wet washcloth or a solid refrigerated teething toy. They must be always very clean and cool, not frozen.

-Chew can relief the pain. Let your baby chew as much as he wants. Just make sure that things he’s putting is his mouth are safe and clean.

-A gentle massage, rubbing softly his gums with your clean finger can also help your baby. It is not worthy to use medicines for this massage because they quickly disappear in the mouth.

– A small dose of your baby’s medicine for pain or fever may help, but you must always ask your doctor before giving it to the children.

These things will happen with each tooth, so, you will learn early how to soothe your teething baby.
