When a second baby arrives in a family, we usually say to our older child that soon he will have a playmate.
During the first months, perhaps is difficult, but there are lots of ways in which a big brother or sister can play with a baby.
During these first months, the big one could read or tell stories to the little, make the baby laugh with strange noises of expressions, play music or build towers to be destroyed by the baby.
When the baby is around nine to twelve months old, the baby will become increasingly mobile: crawling, pulling up, even walking. The baby perhaps can mimic the older sibling’s play.
In this moment, you can encourage your children to play Peek-a-Boo and ask a lot of times: “Where is the baby? “or “Where is the toy?”
Another play for this age is walking, showing the little kid how the older one walks with music, and allowing the older to help the little.
The big boy will hold his brother’s hand and the little one will put one foot in front of the other. Before you know it, they’ll be off and running together.
